Organizational Leadership

My organization is currently discussing the topic of leadership within our organization. We are deconstructing the ‘old way’ of thinking about leadership, i.e. hierarchichal, etc., and beginning to think in terms of a more linear way of thinking of things – where the psychic burden of responsibility rests on the person doing the work.

I’ve engaged this concept and am grateful for my organization’s leadership in thinking of new ways to conceptualize the structure of our organization. As a young non-profit professional I consider myself a leader in many ways in my field although my job title does not say ‘Director of’.

So how does a participatory organization function in theory and in practice?  I will certainly let you know.
